3d printed router templates

February 19, 2026
I'm not a real woodworker, so I only own a single router bit: a 1/2" x 1" flush trim bit from Infinity. It has always worked perfectly.

Some shots from today's 3d printed router template fun:

Template applied to plywood. Ignore the line, unrelated marking. Do note the camo crocs, best woodworking and welding footwear that money can buy.
I made it thick, the same thickness as some OSB scraps I have, to give the option of clamping those around the template to give the router base more stability (ultimately unnecessary). The thickness did come in handy, as it was still usable after sustaining some damage. I set the router base barely too high initially, and the collet nut did a little cut & melt job on the top of the template:

Some damage, still usable
I use this double sided tape to attach my templates - incredible stuff, always have a hard time separating the template and wood after the cut is finished:

Not much identifying information other than the manufacturer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The template is for the hole that will accept the cat station fan grille assembly:

Turquoise is grille, green is wood, red is fan, blue and brownish are the back of the assembly
